Graduate Student Association

The Graduate Student Association (GSA) is part of Karlstad University’s student body. We are maintained by and for all PhD researchers at Karlstad University (KAU). Board members of the GSA are elected annually by the entire PhD body.

What we do?

The GSA dedicates itself to providing quality services and support to all 300+ PhD researchers at KAU. We ensure that your rights are upheld by representing PhD interests in relation to the university - either directly or by appointing representatives for the key governing boards and several committees.

Become a member to have your interests as a PhD researcher represented. You can also actively influence your education and work situation by working with the GSA.

What we offer?

Lectures and Workshops

We sponsor and organize lectures on PhD related topics as well as seminars and workshops that are directed towards the interests of PhD researchers.

The PhD ombudswoman

Our PhD ombudswoman gives individual support and counseling to all doctoral students. All matters are handled with strict confidentiality.

Social Events

To build a strong sense of PhD community, we organize various kinds of social events. Every last Thursday of the month we meet for the PhD pub and once a year we organize a PhD party.
